The stone quarry workers in west India are one of the most disadvantaged groups in the world today. Mainly women, they work in blistering heat for twelve hours a day, six days a week, breaking down metre square rocks with a heavy sledgehammer.
Lakshimbai Arjun Jadhav was only 12 years old when she started working in the stone quarry. She now has four children and is the main income earner.
Thanks to the support of Oxfam Australia, Lakshimbai now has access to drinking water, electricity and insurance. She can see a better life ahead for her children.
These quarry workers want their children to have a better life. Your support can make this happen.
